Orangeade
The same sugar syrup as lemonade, used to sweeten orange juice instead. Sweeten to taste rather than by the spoonful — oranges vary far more than lemons do.
Ingredients
- sugar — 200 g
- water — 500 ml
- orange juice — 500 ml
- lemon juice — 2 tbsp
- ice water — 500 ml
Instructions
- Boil the sugar and water together for 12 minutes and let the syrup cool.
- Squeeze and strain the orange juice.
- Sweeten the juice with the syrup a little at a time, tasting as you go.
- Add the lemon juice — a small amount stops the drink tasting flat.
- Dilute with ice water until it is as strong as you like.
- Serve over ice with a slice of orange.
